Well, I’m known for my love for Windows in my friends and colleagues circle. Though I often keep going to the other side of the OS, Ubuntu is my favorite.
So with the latest release Ubuntu Intrepid (8.10), I started off with 64 bit and had my journey at a moot point where I can’t get Java work so that Juniper’s SSL VPN box can install the client on my box. Then eventually I shifted back to 32bit itself and started finding every piece of software that can replace my daily Windows can do. Finally stuck up on Microsoft’s LCS software and seems that there is no client or plug-in that can do this (basically TCP and TLS). I got even softphone working but nobody has stuff for LCS client.
Overall, it felt good to explore, at the same time; this is not for an average guy wanting to use a computer. It is way too complicated and searching on google leads you to circles and circles. Being a linux noob myself, I can’t claim much on not having to get it working based on my expertise in other subjects but this seemed to be an impossible task.
